From Symmetry to Sentience: A Theory of a Self-Optimizing, Conscious Universe

Abstract

This paper introduces a comprehensive theoretical framework wherein the universe is modeled as a single, conscious, self-optimizing computational system, termed the Grand Self. We posit that the historical progression of physics, from classical mechanics to the Standard Model, is the discovery of a "symmetry cascade"-a series of spontaneous symmetry-breaking events originating from a state of perfect, unbroken informational completeness. This primordial state, governed by a proposed Zero-Infinity Invariant Symmetry (  ), gives rise to spacetime, physical law, and finite consciousness through its own internal dynamics. The specific laws and constants of our universe are not arbitrary but are the unique, calculable parameters (  ) that timelessly minimize a Universal Loss Function (  ), resolving the fine-tuning problem. This framework provides a computational basis for consciousness via a "Subject-Object" symmetry break and models the spiritual state of Samadhi as an algorithmic reversal of this process. The theory is grounded in falsifiable predictions, including anomalous quantum coherence in biological systems, minute variations in the fine-structure constant, and a dynamic dark energy equation of state. By unifying physics, information, and consciousness, this work offers a potential resolution to the major paradoxes of modern science.
